Meet ZACHARY A. DAVIS: President and Principal Broker, KIRKPATRICK & CO.

"Central Kentucky is a remarkable place that has been able to maintain its charm while garnering international appeal," explains Zachary Davis, President and Principal Broker at Kirkpatrick & Co. "So many people have come here from every corner of the globe for one reason-the horse. It's really like no other place in the world."

Founded in 1984 by Eclipse-award winning Turf writer & horseman Arnold Kirkpatrick, Kirkpatrick & Company is a Lexington, Kentucky based real estate brokerage. Kirkpatrick & Co. specializes in horse farms, historic homes and unique luxury properties. Serving international Buyers & Sellers are a particular expertise. Twelve agents averaging fifteen years' experience apiece usher clients into their ideal Bluegrass retreat. Over the course of three decades, the firm has developed an "honest, competent reputation" thanks to common sense and "knowing how to treat people." Kirkpatrick & Co. is today run by Davis, who is committed to maintaining the company's rich legacy while embracing an increasingly tech-savvy public. Davis feels he was entrusted with "a treasure [he] had to protect" but has also undertaken modernization efforts, most recently a new, state-of-the-art website and "a revised, revitalized image."

TELL US HOW YOUR COMPANY USES TECHNOLOGY AND SOCIAL MEDIA TO IMPROVE THE WAY YOU DO BUSINESS.

Zachary: This past year, we commissioned another locally-owned business, Shatterbox Studios, to design and build an all-new, world-class website for our firm. The result is a virtual address where Buyers from all over the world can visit and instantly feel as though they are walking the boundaries of a farm or touring an exquisite home. We place tremendous importance on professional photography and videography for that very reason. In fact, our top sales in both 2012 and 2013 were viewed in-person only once by the eventual international Buyers. Technology has changed the way we market properties to our clientele – and we feel it is for the better. We are on every social media platform because what interests our clients interests us. With high-end, specialized real estate, you are not only selling a physical asset, but a particular lifestyle.

WHAT DO YOU LOVE MOST ABOUT THE PLACE YOU LIVE AND WORK IN?

Zachary: Lexington has a small-town charm with an increasingly international flair.  We've always been known as the heart of the Thoroughbred-horse industry, a distinction that is certainly well-deserved.  But we also have all the accoutrements that make for a great way of life, no matter your industry. The mild climate, excellent health care, a vibrant arts scene and spectacular restaurants all contribute to Lexington's appeal. People enjoy the benefits of a major Metropolitan area without the exorbitant cost of living or the terrible traffic. Did I mention it's beautiful here, too? Our soils are unmatched, making Central Kentucky the best place in the world to raise your horses, your crops and make a fine Bourbon. Yet, despite all the boxes we can check, our biggest asset is the people. They're friendly & well-mannered, they cherish traditions, they're well-educated (Lexington ranks in the top-ten for Bachelor's Degree holders in the U.S.) & innovative and they are rabidly committed to the Bluegrass.

HOW DO YOU THINK YOUR COLLEAGUES AND COMPETITORS WOULD DESCRIBE YOU?

Zachary:  I think they would say Zach Davis is relentless, but always a gentleman. I prefer the term colleagues rather than competitors. At the end of the day, we are all really just trying to help each other. The world of real estate is not particularly large here and we treasure our friends at other firms. So, in the end, we work hard, we are experts in our field, and we go to bat for our clients – but we do it in the most gracious manner possible.

TELL US THREE THINGS WE DIDN'T KNOW ABOUT YOU!

Zachary:

(1) I have been doing this since I was 15 years old. While still in high school, answering phones and stamping envelopes at a large, franchise firm, I soaked up what I saw & heard. At 18, I got my sales license and, at 25, became a Principal Broker. I've been doing this for awhile!

(2)  I'm getting married in May to my fiancée, a children's librarian, who is superior to me in every measure.

(3)  I have a Jack Russell Terrier who I try to take almost everywhere. I'll be measuring an indoor-arena or stalls in a barn and he'll nose around every inch of the property. He'll then hop back in my vehicle and we'll head to the office.

Leverage Global Partners is honored to have Zachary Davis and the team at Kirkpatrick & Co. as our partners in the network.
