4 Destinations to Explore This Spring

As the temperatures slowly begin to rise and the layers are no longer needed, it’s easy to start imagining your next vacation. A destination where the sun shines brightly, where a refreshing drink is never out of reach, and where the faintest breeze reminds you that it’s not all a dream. Kick off your 2018 travels right this spring with a few sunny destinations you may not have thought of visiting before.

Colombia

With its proximity to the Equator, the geography of Colombia is diverse from the snowcapped mountain tops of the Andes to the tropical grasslands of Los Llanos. A dream come true for the avid outdoorsman in your group.

While Colombia is home to many geographical jewels, one that cannot be missed is its Caribbean coastline. Step back in time as you stroll along the cobblestone streets of Cartagena’s Old Town which dates back to the 16th century. March is a good time to escape to this tropical oasis as it’s in between the heavy tourist season earlier in the year and the rainy season that begins in April.

Seychelles

An archipelago located off the coast of East Africa, Seychelles offers its visitors white sandy beaches and topaz-blue waters without the crowds.

April marks the transition from the wet season and is one of the best times to go snorkeling, a popular activity on the islands. Explore the coral reefs and shallow lagoons that surround Mahé and catch a glimpse of the vibrant aquatic life that call this paradise home.

Morocco

Nestled in the northwestern corner of Africa just a few miles away from the Spanish coastline, Morocco is a rich blend of Arabic, European, and Berber cultures.

If you don’t mind going off the beaten path, or close quarters, skip the usual route through Marrakesh and explore the maze-like streets of the Medina in Fez. Founded over 1,000 years ago, its home to the oldest known university in the world.

U.S. Virgin Islands

While these islands are technically U.S. territories, they have a culture and way of life that is all their own.

No matter what your vacation style, there’s an island for you. For the reveler, join in the festivities of Carnival on St. Thomas in the month of April where the streets are filled with music and pageantry. For the explorer, sail over to St. John’s where the Virgin Islands National Park covers two-thirds of the island.
