Greenville, South Carolina

Greenville, South Carolina is a city that will surprise you, engage you, charm you and delight you.

Stroll down award-winning Main Street and lean into an open-air artist’s studio, grab a bite to eat at a street-front café or pause to sing along with a talented street musician. Offering 200 days of sunshine a year, Downtown Greenville overflows with public parks, lush gardens and the Liberty Bridge overlooking the falls of the Reedy River. There's also Fluor Field, the Fenway-inspired ballpark that anchors the bustling West End and home to Minor League Baseball team, and The Greenville Drive, affiliate to the Boston Red Sox.

Greenville has 300 events in its downtown every year, ranging from concerts and craft beer festivals to Artisphere and Euphoria, two of the nation’s premier culinary and arts festivals. One of the year’s biggest events, “Fall for Greenville,” hosts 40 restaurants featuring over 200 menu items and free entertainment on seven stages.

Enjoy the outdoors by visiting Caesars Head and Paris Mountain State Park, which are both great for camping, hiking, picnicking and fishing. If you're feeling adventurous, check out Swamp Rabbit Trail, a 19.9-mile multi-use greenway system, perfect for biking, walking or running.

Not an outdoorsy person? Visit Greenville County Museum of Art, Upcountry History Museum or the Museum & Gallery at Bob Jones University. Art lovers will be taken with the Greenville County Museum of Art, which is considered the premier American art museum in the South. The GCMA is home to the world’s largest public collection of watercolors by iconic American artist Andrew Wyeth, and also has an impressive collection of paintings and prints by contemporary artist Jasper Johns.

As for Broadway plays and music, The Peace Center for Performing Arts has a 2,100-seat concert hall, a 400-seat theatre, and an amphitheater to enjoy concerts and performances, including classical, dance, jazz, country, bluegrass, folk, pop and comedy, as well as a full calendar of top Broadway shows.

Before setting out on your day, stop in for a quick caffeine fix at one of Greenville’s locally- owned coffeehouses: The Village Grind, Coffee Underground or Methodical Coffee. In addition to the morning cup of Joe, Coffee Underground is open late and features cocktails, as well as an in-house comedy theater called Alchemy Comedy.

While you’re in town, be sure to check out Greenville's booming restaurant scene. With new places opening almost every week, some favorites include Sidewall Pizza, Greek Towne Grill, Pomegranate, Halls Steakhouse, Tommy’s Country Ham House, Henry’s BBQ, The Lazy Goat, Golden Brown & Delicious, White Duck Taco and more!

With craft breweries on just about every corner, keep the night going while sampling a beer flight. Brewed with love, Birds Fly South serves up Farmhouse Saisons and Sour beers, which can be enjoyed while listening to live music on the outdoor patio. There's also Community Tap and Upstate Craft Beer Co.

You can’t go home without a souvenir. Augusta Road is home to a variety of high-end specialty shops, including fine clothing stores, flower shops, health food markets and decorating resource centers, along with the charm of old-fashioned hardware stores and a wide range of restaurants. Downtown is probably the most popular shopping destination in Greenville. With 100 retailers, including a variety of art galleries and specialty stores, you’ll find everything from local designer boutiques to national favorites, such as Anthropologie, Orvis, and Brooks Brothers. There are also more than 120 independent restaurants in a 10-block stretch.

Whether you enjoy good food, craft beer, camping, shopping, or catching a baseball game, Greenville has it all. From the thriving downtown to the gorgeous parks, there is something special for everyone.
