Meet HILARY FARNUM: Owner, BEACHY BEACH 30A AND DESTIN
"My vision for Destin and 30A was to bring something to the market that we didn't already have," explains Hilary Farnum, owner with her husband, Chad, of Beachy Beach Real Estate in Northwest Florida, when describing the company. "I wanted a fun, energetic, very specialized group of agents who were experts in the area; full-time, career real estate agents whom we have pressed to truly be specialists."
With a vision for the company that included "immersing ourselves in the community by giving back to local charities and participating in community events," Hilary looked specifically for agents who wanted to be a part of that vision and to grow from it. "We ended up with top quality agents, representing and promoting what we are all about."
TELL US ABOUT HOW YOU USE SOCIAL MEDIA, MARKETING AND BRANDING IN YOUR BUSINESS
Hilary: When an agent starts at our company, the first person they meet is our PR Director, who helps them with business cards and signage; she can assist with postcards, social media, print ads, networking. We will participate with the agent in their marketing; we provide templates for social media (platforms like Facebook and Instagram) and the agents are very willing. Our PR/Social Media director offers group classes and provides a la carte consultations if they need more. We provide the kick-off, an incredible start up that I have not seen anywhere else, especially at the boutique level. We want our agents to be successful so we implemented this program, but the agents also have to be willing to invest in their business.
GIVE US A SNAPSHOT OF THE PLACE YOU LIVE AND WORK IN
Hilary: I have two kids and it's an incredible place to raise kids. We golf cart and bike everywhere-to all the shops, restaurant, the beach. Everyone owns a stand up paddle board-a YOLO, which stands for You Only Live Once-that's what we all do here, it's a big part of the culture. I am a runner and part of a tennis team. It's an outside-all-the-time lifestyle in Florida.
HOW DO YOU THINK YOUR COLLEAGUES IN THE BUSINESS SEE YOU?
Hilary: I think they see a very focused, highly driven individual who has a passion for what I do and for what I sell. I am a mentor. I reach out all the time to other companies, to create a joint message about the community.

I met my husband (who is the broker/owner of the company) when we were both working at Walt Disney World! He and I share a glass-enclosed, one desk office designed to look like a beach house.
