Meet Steve Hurwitz: President, Mauna Kea Realty

"It's all about my clients and giving them the best service I can," says Steve Hurwitz, President of Mauna Kea Realty. "The service does not stop when the deal closes. As agents, we have been entrusted to look out for our clients' best interests and I am here to assist them in whatever may come up."

As a seasoned real estate professional with his own company for over thirty years, together with his partner Bob Chancer, Steve Hurwitz is now at the helm of Mauna Kea Realty, with a focus primarily on upscale, high-end properties up and down the Kona-Kohala Coast. The company of five agents, each with at least 15 years of real estate experience on the island, provides the highest level of expertise and market knowledge to their clients.

Steve and the agents at Mauna Kea Realty work with a wide variety of clients, from the casual vacationer who wants a place to come home to when on the island, to those who have decided to make it their permanent place of residence.

WHAT DO YOU LOVE ABOUT LIVING AND WORKING ON THE BIG ISLAND?

STEVE: I was born and raised in Los Angeles. I chose long ago to live in an environment that was healthy, both physically, spiritually as well as psychologically. I met my wife here and we have raised three kids in the area. Sitting on the lanai outside my office I see that beautiful beach, hear the waves, feel the balmy air. I want what I have!

HOW HAVE YOU INTEGRATED SOCIAL MEDIA INTO YOUR BUSINESS?

STEVE: We are currently developing our online presence and have so much planned, but it's all about the people you have in your organization. They have to back up what you see online with their service and expertise.

WHAT DO YOU ENJOY DOING OUTSIDE OF THE OFFICE WHEN TIME ALLOWS?

STEVE: I say why live here if you are not going to enjoy it? I love the ocean and have taken up stand-up paddle. I also play tennis, enjoy hiking and take great ski vacations every year, too.

When asked how he thinks his colleagues in the business see him, Steve feels that most everyone sees him "as a deal maker. I do everything I can to make the deal happen and do what's best for my client, with honesty and integrity. It's a small community and your reputation is known to all."
